Disembark at Halong pier and return to Hanoi by motorcoach.

Day 4 • Hanoi / Hue  AB, L, D

This morning drive to Hue, the old Imperial capital. Located in the heart of Hue is the Imperial Citadel, a vast complex built in the early 19th century and modeled after the Forbidden City of Beijing. As you approach the city pass the striking Flag Tower where a giant Vietnamese flag waves proud overhead, and the imposing Ngo Mon Gate. Continue on to the Dien Tho palace, where the Queen mother lived. Visit Thai Hoa Place, Halls of the Mandarins, Nine Dynastic Urns, and the Imperial Tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.

Day 5 • Hue / Danang  AB, L, D

Today travel by motorcoach to Danang; enjoy a scenic drive through mountainous roads with spectacular views of the coastline along the way. Halfway between Danang and Hue lies the dramatic Hai Van Pass, the high dividing line between the climate zones of north and south Vietnam. Continue past Lang Co, a lovely stretch of beach curving outward between a clear blue lagoon and the South China Sea, before arriving at Danang.

Day 6 • Danang AB, L, D

Today visit Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through cobbled streets, past low tile-roofed buildings, the bustling central market and the small harbor where colorfully painted boats are moored. This walking tour includes a visit to a private house, where members of the same family have lived continuously for centuries. Also visit typical Chinese-style Pagoda or Assembly Hall. Finally, continue to the famous Japanese covered bridge, first constructed in 1593 by the Japanese community of Hoi An to link the town with the Chinese quarters across the stream. In the afternoon, board a local boat and cruise down the Thu Bon River, enjoying the unspoiled countryside; stop to visit a Pottery Village and a Woodcarving Village before returning to Hoi An Harbor.

Day 7 • Danang / Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)  AB, L, D

You will fly to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, Vietnam’s largest city. Your sightseeing will include Cholon (Chinatown) and Notre Dame Cathedral, built between 1877 and 1883. It has a neo-Romanesque form and two high square towers, tipped with iron spires. You will also see the Central Post Office - this is a French-style building with a glass canopy and iron frame. The structure was built between 1886 and 1891 and is by far the largest post office in Vietnam. Continue to visit City Hall (Hotel De Ville), completed in 1908, the Opera House, Jade Emperor Pagoda (Ngoc Hoang Pagoda), Reunification Palace, Ben Thanh Market and the Thien Hau Pagoda.

Day 8 • Ho Chi Minh City (Cu Chi excursion) AB, L, D

Begin today with a visit to the town of Tay Ninh, headquarters of one of Vietnam’s most interesting religions, Caodism, an eclectic fusion of Eastern and Western religious philosophies. Visit Caodai Great Temple, a rococo extravagance built between 1933 and 1955. Afterwards continue on to Cu Chi, an important base during the war because of its strategic location. The incredible Cu Chi Tunnels, a hidden 124 mile long network of tunnels used for storage, shelter, command posts, and hospitals were completely dug by hand tools over a 25-year period to defend both French and American troops.

Day 9 • Ho Chi Minh City / SiemReap  AB, L, D

This morning, fly to Siem Reap, gateway to Cambodia’s most famous landmark, Angkor Wat. Capital of the Khmers from 802 to 1441 AD. Angkor’s religious citadel is one of the largest temple complexes in the world, containing exquisite examples of Khmer and Hindu art.

Day 10 • Siem Reap AB, L, D

Take an excursion to the Kampong Kleang. Enjoy a boat trip and explore the floating fishing villages at the edges of the lake, passing submerged forests and fishing farms. Visit Angkor Wat a highlight of your trip and the crowning jewel of Khmer architecture. The largest, best preserved, and most religiously significant of the Angkor temples. Angkor Wat impresses visitors both by its sheer scale and beautifully proportioned layout, as well as the delicate artistry of its carvings. You will also visit the site of jungle covered Ta Prohm. To finish your day watch the sunset over the Cambodian countryside from the upper terraces of an ancient Angkorian temple.

Wat Phra Kaeo, in contrast awes guests with the sight and aura of the priceless Emerald Buddha. After lunch visit Jim Thomson’s House – once home to American silk entrepreneur Jim Thompson. PROTECT YOUR TRAVEL INVESTMENT – Sometimes the unexpected can force you to cancel your trip. Consider the sickness or injury of you, your family member or your traveling companion; or a terrorist event in a city on your itinerary; bad weather that delays your departure; or storm damage to your home. Purchase your plan within fourteen (14) days of your initial trip deposit to be eligible for waiver of pre-existing conditions. Our plan provides benefits for up to $25,000 in medical expenses incurred while traveling, and up to $50,000 for Emergency Medical Evacuation.

PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY – Coverage is included for lost baggage up to $1,000 and up to $300 to reimburse you for expenses for essential items in the event your baggage is delayed.

The above are highlights of the Plan. You will be provided a Description of Coverage containing the complete terms, conditions and exclusions that apply, with your travel documents.
